REPORT ON “AMARTYA” INAUGRTAION DAY

On the 6th of July the Department of Economics of Christ (deemed to be university) had the inauguration programme of “Amartya” the student centered Economics Association. The day began with the inauguration dance which was beautifully performed by the university dance team “Natyarpana” followed by a prayer song and the lighting of the lamp. Our chief guest to grace the occasion was Dr R.S Deshpande, former director, Institute for Social and Economic Change (ISEC). The event proceeded with Ms Ann Abraham, faculty coordinator of the economics association welcome addressand introductory remarks. The presidential address was given by the Dean, Humanities and Social Sciences Dr John Joseph Kennedy, followed by the introduction of the office bearers of Economics Association for the academic year 2018-19. Pooja Varma the elected president of Amartya addressed the gathering and spoke about the association, its achievements and proposed activities in the upcoming year along with council support and constant guidance by the teachers.
Our honourable chief guest Dr R S Deshpande gave a powerful keynote address that left the crowd motivated, inspired and was marked as the event highlight.Lastly Ephemeris- department publication was released along with the release of the placement brochure. Dr Joshy KJHead, department of economics delivered the vote of thanks.The event ended with the university anthem and group picture.
